Tony Romo has been fitted for a protective vest for his ribs in an effort to avoid missing a game. The move comes as a result of a fractured rib and a small puncture of his lung on the third play of the Cowboys’ comeback victory against San Francisco. Romo threw for 345 yards and two touchdowns. A source reports Jason Witten who suffers from bruised ribs also was fitted by the same manufacturer as Romo. Both vests are similar to Vick’s. There are indications that, if Romo plays, the Redskins will attempt to knock the Cowboys quarterback out of the game as they did Vick. The Washington Redskins cornerback, DeAngelo Hall, said Wednesday he’s hoping Romo plays Monday night for the chance to inflict more damage. The NFL warned all 32 teams of fines, suspensions and loss of draft picks if the league discovered players had faked injuries during a game. Several players admit it’s an accepted practice, and some coaches hinted they are not above condoning phony injuries if it provides an edge. The warning comes after speculation the Giants’ Deon Grant faked an injury against the Rams during the Monday night game. Two days later, the league warned of taking disciplinary action.
