Julio Lugo had said that he was safe after the 19 innings and almost around after 7 hours he was also sticking around to get some conversation on this subject. Lugo came in and managed to score from third base on what was a contested play at the plate, this gave the Atlanta Braves a 4-3 win the 19 innings they played against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday morning. The ended at 1:50 a.m. and was the longest Turner Field history and also matched the longest in the season of the major league which has been recorded as 6 hours and 39 minutes, this was the longest time for both these teams. Lugo first took on the grounder dished out by Scott Proctor to the third baseman Pedro Alverez whose catcher Micheal Mckenry managed to easily beat Lugo to the plate. Lugo tired his best to avoid McKenry’s tag but it just didn’t happen. But the replays aired showed that McKenry did make a tag but the umpire at the home plate Jerry Meals had called Lugo safe. Lugo said “I didn’t feel the tag,” “He made the right call. I got in there.”

But the manager for the Pirates Clint Hurdle had argued this vigorously. Basketball lines

Meals said “I saw the tag, but he looked like he oled him and I called him safe for that,” “I looked at the replays and it appeared he might have got him on the shin area. I’m guessing he might have got him, but when I was out there when it happened I didn’t see a tag. “I just saw the glove sweep up. I didn’t see the glove hit his leg.”

The Pirates were then looking at the tap on their laptop computer in their clubhouse after the game. Hurdle said “The game tonight deserved way better than that,”

Daniel McCutchen had walked Lugo. Despite the arguably controversial ending he called the game special.

Despite the controversial ending, McCutchen said it was a special game.

He said “It was awesome,” “It was fun. It was like backyard baseball, no rules.”

Lugo speaking to the media after the game said “If you’re going to take that long, it’s good to win the game,”

“That’s a big bat in the lineup,” Gonzalez said.
