The NCAA has been criticized for a long time for just punishing the program instead of the individuals who abuse these programs. But there is a new era which has emerged on Wednesday when the committee on infractions had ruled that new Tennessee men’s basketball coach Cuonzo Martin and the current players on his team will not have to pay for the improprieties of their predecessor Bruce Pearl as well as the three assistants who had worked for him. Britton Banowksy the USA commissioner and Vice Chair of the COI said “As these allegations are becoming more and more regular, it’s very clear that a head coach is being held responsible for his program,”
Pearl’s son was seen blasting the decision by the committee via his twitter account where he said “Define hypocrisy…. NCAA. Biggest joke of a committee I have ever seen. Punishing a man who came back and told the truth.”
The show cause penalty for Pearl will end on the 23rd of August 2014 and for his assistants on the 23rd of August 2012. The present coach for the Vols football program Lane Kiffin was found not to have committed any major violations. Kiffin is now entering into his second year as coach at USC. The committee on the infractions said that they had thought that they were troubled by a number of secondary infractions committed by the one year employment of Kiffin and his staff. Las Vegas odds
