BRUINS TAKE IT FROM THE CANUCKS
Wed, 15 Jun 2011 03:28 PM EDT

Brand Marchand managed to shoot the puck right over Robert Luongo’s shoulder in the early part of Game 6, the Canadian goalie looked bewildered and shaky as it went in for a goal. Later on Milan Lucic managed to hit another goal right through the legs of the charismatic goalie just 35 seconds after the first shot, this was something that told the Bruins that the Vancouver’s goalie was having a bad day. Later on Andrew Ference had a shot which he took for another goal, which quite frankly rendered Luongo useless and put the Bruins back in the game for the Stanley Cup finals and the grand finale. The Canucks had the chance of raising the Stanley Cup on Monday night but the Bruins dug in and refused to allow any partying by the visitors. They managed to chase Luongo off the ice in the first period by evening the series with a great 5-2 victory. Sports scores

Marchand said “We wanted to make sure if we went down, we went down fighting,”

Luongo was definitely down but this meant that the Canucks’ goalie was back on a flight to the West Coast for a critical game 7 on Wednesday night for the Stanley Cup.

Mark Recchi said “I’m proud of the guys,” “We had our backs to the wall, we’ve been resilient all year, and we came out and had a great first period and did what we had to do tonight, and it comes down to Game 7. It’s one game now.” Recchi himself had three assists during the game.

This is the sixth time in the last 10 seasons that the finals have had to be stretched to their official limit. The home team has yet to lose in this series, Vancouver won three one goal games and Boston posted a great three blowout victories but the Bruins are riding more of momentum than anything else since their first title win back in 1972. Thomas said “Not too many people counted on us being at this point right now,” “It’s a great feeling. We battled hard tonight. We came to play, and it’s coming down to one game. This is what we dream of, when you’re little kids playing street hockey, you know, you’re in Game 7.”
