The Chicago White Sox are one of the best teams in baseball at the moment. They have an amazing record, and are currently ranked first in the AL-Central. Most teams they face can’t beat them, and the Oakland Athletics were the most recent team to fall before them. The game on Sunday ended 4-1 on the back of some amazing pitching.

More and more, baseball games are being settled from the mound, on Sunday, the White Sox ace Gavin Floyd carried a near perfect game well into the sixth inning. He has been throwing heat lately, and with sufficient variety in his pitches; he keeps the opposition guessing while at the plate. The Chi-Town gang has won six of seven recently, they have been playing very strong ball.

Not just their pitching has been on fire, if you don’t score, you can’t win. Brent Lillibridge hit a three-run triple for Chicago, and performances like this are what have been carrying the team forward. The Sox improved to 20-2 in their last 22 games at U.S. Cellular Field with the win on Sunday.

The rest of the season looks good for Chicago, they have had some great games since the All Star break, and are pushing forward with a fiery determination. Their pitching has undergone massive improvements, they have found a go to guy in Floyd, and they just need to keep him in good shape. He allowed one run and four hits in seven-plus innings. With this performance, he improved to 5-2 with a 1.06 ERA in his last 11 starts.

The Oakland Athletics saw a recent rise in their number of victories; they have been playing better, looking more cohesive as a team. However, they came up dry against the best team in the Central, and much to the expectations of many, lost. The only teams that really stand a chance at the moment against the all-powerful White Sox are the Yankees and the Rangers.
