The Dallas Mavericks needed a win if they wanted to go up to the second place in the Western Conference and only the Philadelphia 76ers stood in their way. Jason Kidd and Jason Terry had an outstanding game, with the former even managing a triple-double.

The first quarter was extremely well balanced and none of the teams could hold on to a lead for very long. Both the Mavericks and the 76ers played good defense and couldn’t really get an edge. The score for the first quarter was 23-22, and it really looked like the Mavericks could miss their chance. Vegas odds.

“We played toe-to-toe with one of the best, one of the hottest teams in the league,” Collins stated. “I’m proud of them for that. Our guys are doing this for the first time. They’ve been at it for a while, they’ve been here a lot of times. That showed tonight.”

But the 76ers could maintain such great defensive play for only the first quarter. They kind of lost it in the second and the Mavericks were able to finally grab a decent lead. Jason Terry was the man with the shots and Jason Kidd was the man with the passes. They worked wonders on the field and the Mavericks were 7 points up at half time. The score for the second quarter was 28-22, which brought the overall score to 51-44. Betting lines.

“I haven’t seen him in a zone like that in a long time,” Nowitzki stated about Jason Terry. “He showed us the whole package tonight. It was fun to watch.”

The Philadelphia 76ers did better in the third quarter, but it was still nowhere near enough. They were able to break down Dallas’ defense, but they were unable to keep their own defense in check. So even if they scored plenty, they couldn’t actually grab a good lead. Even if the Mavericks were outscored in the third quarter, they were still ahead and, if they managed to do their job in the fourth, they could win the game.

“Good teams can crank it down on you late, and that’s what they did to us tonight,” Coach Doug Collins stated.

So it all came down to who could do better in the fourth. And to the surprise of no one, it was the Mavericks. Their defense was spectacular and they didn’t really have to sweat for this one, it was 101-93, and the Mavs go up to second place. Sports scores.
