The Eagles have agreed to a one year contract with Ronnie Brown a veteran running back who has spent six seasons playing for the Dolphins. The 29 year old Brown has rushed 4815 yards and has gotten 36 touchdowns with 184 passes and 1,491 yards playing for Miami. He has run for 1000 yards in 2006 and has made his only Pro Bowl team in 2008. NFL scores
With Brown the Eagles have made their seventh big acquisition in this past week alone, he joins the ranks of other new recruits such as Jason Babin the defensive lineman, cornerbacks Rodgers Cromartie as well as Nnamdi Asomugha and Cullen Jenkins. You also have Vince Young and lineman Evan Mathis there as well. Prior to Brown the only experienced running back for the Eagles was their starter LeSean McCoy who had run for 1080 yards and caught seventy passes in the previous season. Eldra Buckly who is now 36 has spent two years for the Eagles. NFL odds
In a statement the general manager Howie Roseman said “Ronnie is an all-around running back with a versatile skill set,” “He can run the ball, catch it, and does very well in pass protection. He’ll add some good size to our backfield and he’s a good character guy. We think he’ll be a tremendous compliment to LeSean [McCoy] and the other young backs on this team that we really like. You can never have enough good running backs in this league and we are happy to have Ronnie join us.”
Brown was the second pick in the 2005 draft right behind the 49ers quarterback Alex Smith. The Eagles also signed their unrestricted free agent offensive tackle Ryan Harris to a year’s contract deal. Harris has spent four of his years with the Broncos and started 34 games. The third round pick in 2007 for the Broncos was of Notre Dame. NFL spreads
Harris has started in 16 games back in 2008 and eight games in 2009 and 10 in the previous season. He has also played at Notre Dame with the Eagles defensive lineman Victor Abiamiri and Trevor Laws. This addition is definitely going to be excited for many Eagles fans who see Brown as someone who needed to be added to the team.
