FOURTH-QUARTER COMEBACK
Thu, 09 Dec 2010 11:05 AM EST

It was one of those “hold your breath” games. When someone says that the Portland Trail Blazers and the Phoenix Suns are set for a showdown, no one really gets that excited. As two of the leagues middle-tier teams, little anticipation hung in the air prior to the game. However, from the time that first buzzer rang, a high-energy and tense battle was set in to play. The lead was thrown back and forth, as each team fought to extend a winning streak. In the end, the Blazers brought it to a close at 106-99 after regulation time.

With this win, Portland was able to extend a much needed and humble win streak. At the same time, they also improved to 10-11 and 6-3 at home. While it appears as if that home advantage has helped them greatly this year, what further swayed this game in their favor was the brilliant team work the Trail Blazers displayed. In a combined effort, Portland was able to bring an end to the Suns’ previous three game losing streak. Basketball scores.

Player of the game Weasley Matthews was good for 24 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assist, while Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge both came through with 20 points. Even without guard Andre Miller, the team was able to take this win with a better defense and team dynamic. They turned it all around with a beautiful fourth-quarter comeback. Basketball odds.

With this loss, Phoenix fell to 11-10 and remains in second place of the Pacific Division. The team simply lost players and opportunities that would have permitted them to take the game. According to Steve Nash [24 points, 3 rebounds and 15 assists], “We struggled to score at times, and that was it.” Maybe scoring will prove be less of a struggle in their next game today against the Memphis Grizzlies.
