In an enticing showdown between two of the NBA’s Eastern Conference teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to play against the Indiana Pacers on Friday, December 19th. Coming into this game, the Pacers will try to dodge a tenth consecutive overall and eleventh road loss. At the same time, the Cavaliers will simply try to escape a fourth straight double-digit loss. These are not bad teams; they have merely hit a rough spot that every team in the NBA does at least once every season. Still, it will be interesting to see who pulls out of their slump come 7:00 PM ET tomorrow. The two will battle it out for redemption at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Basketball odds.
The Pacers have done ok for themselves this season. The team has managed an 11-13 record this season, which is good enough for 7th place in the Eastern Conference. Indiana also beat a few of the NBA’s stronger teams in November, like the Denver Nuggets and the L.A. Lakers. To further help their chances, the Pacers also took the Cavs twice last month, once at home and once while away. However, this team hit a slump at the wrong time. Basketball spreads.
The fact that they have lost their last three games by an average of 16 points is a direct result of lousy defense and failing to rebound. Yes, perhaps they are undergoing the growing pains of a young team, but that is no excuse for flat out indolent play. Still, one of these teams has to win. Luckily for the Pacers, they have this season’s series advantage. Basketball lines.
The Cavaliers have also hit a losing streak, bringing their record down to 7-18 for 13th place of the Eastern Conference and last place of the Central Division. Sadly, this team seems to suffer from a lack of talent rather than determination. A Coach Bryon Scott said after the Miami game, “I couldn’t ask for them to play any harder than they played. I thought they were terrific effort-wise.” Perhaps this will prove to be the game Cleveland needs to avoid the longest losing streak it has had since a 15-game loss in 2002.
