JACKSON WAS ENRAGED BY THE POOR PERFORMANCE SHOWN BY HIS TEAM
Mon, 02 Jan 2012 08:29 PM EST

Staring at his offense continually to stay close to the end zone, his defense get buffeted by Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers, and his unique groups get wiped out for a 105-yard kickoff return was too tough for Coach Hue Jackson of Oakland Raiders.

Jackson was rabid at his team’s slow redemption, to find after the Raiders were given the help they were looking to win the AFC West and reach the playoffs when Denver lost out to Kansas City. However, they were clobbered 38-26 at home by San Diego. NFL lines

“I’m mad at my team. Here’s your time. Yeah, I’m pissed at the team. Like I tell them, I mostly put it on me, but I am pissed at my team because when you have such opportunities, you have to take advantage and we didn’t do it.”

Brooks released 3 touchdown passes and Richard Goodman returned a kickoff 105 yards for another score.

The group plans to hire a GM to help fill the void left by the demise of longtime owner Al Davis last October.

However, Jackson refused to declare if defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan would come back next season, or if he is planning to make staff adjustments on defense. The Raiders permitted a franchise-worst 31 touchdown passes this season, the worst record in history of the franchise. NFL betting lines

“I know one thing, this team needs an outlook adjustment,” Jackson recounted. “The killer instinct needs to exist here. This is something I’ve discussed. When you don’t finish games at the end like we haven’t, this has been going on all year. I mean, this feeling I’ve had has been there all year and you attempt to change it, change it, change it and I haven’t managed to get it changed. I know what has to happen and we’ll move ahead.”

Oakland (8-8) started the day requiring a win and some support to make the postseason. The Broncos cooperated with a 7-3 home loss to Kansas City, but the Raiders couldn’t do their part against the Chargers, who ended with 8-8. The Broncos won the division based primarily on record vs. common contestants.

Jackson, whose proficiency is on the offensive side of the ball, asserted he intends to take a more robust role in the defense next season. “Let me tell you, I will have a stronger hand in this team, this whole organization. There’s no way that I am going to feel a bit like I feel today a year from now. I guarantee you that. To have an opportunity at home to beat a football team that’s reeling after being beaten in Detroit, who’s one of your rivals and they come in here and defeat us like that, I’m going to take a turn in everything.”

The Raiders achieved the single-season records for penalties and yards punished by committing 8 for 64 yards. That gave them a total of 163 for 1,358 yards, overreaching the totals of 158 for 1,304 set by the Chiefs in 1998. The record-setting penalty was a hold by Rock Cartwright on the opening kick of the second half.
