Marcum struggled through his last two appearances against two of the best offenses in the league. He was tagged for five runs over six innings against the Yankees in the Bronx and followed that performance with a loss against Boston where he lasted only four innings and was charged with eight runs. Meanwhile, it’s been an injury-plagued season for Brett Anderson, who makes his fourth start since returning from the disabled list. Left elbow tendonitis has cost the 22-year-old a good chunk of his season.
