The receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles Jeremy Maclin has not been in training camp for a while owing to an undisclosed medical condition, he will need to undergo some more tests in his hometown of St. Louis according to a team’s spokesman. It has been reported that Maclin has contracted mononucleosis back in spring but it is now unclear if his current condition is linked to that one. The coach Andy Reid has said last week that he was positive that Maclin would probably be ready to start the season. The 23 year old player has caught 70 passes and for 964 yards last season. He has gotten 10 touchdowns and tied for seventh in the NFL. Betting lines

Back on Wednesday the Eagles had agreed to just one year’s deal with the former player of the Giants Steve Smith who was in the process of recovering from a knee injury. Smith had played for the Giants from 2007 to 2010 and has totaled 220 receptions for 2386 yards and 11 touchdowns. Smith then made it to the Pro Bowl later in 2009 when he had posted his franchise record of 107 receptions and for 1220 yards in seven touchdowns. According to some sources with knowledge of Smith’s medical condition told reporters that doctors believe that the receiver would return somewhere in October if he has no additional setbacks with his rehab.

Under this projected time span Smith cold probably begin the season on the PUP also known as the unable to play list which means that he would required to miss around six regular games of the season. The Eagles also have their bye later in Week 7. But one source close to the Eagles has said that they expect Smith to be on the field contributing as early as possible but not start off the season on the PUP list. Sports scores
