JETS CHALLENGE STEELERS
Thu, 20 Jan 2011 11:16 AM EST

Having pushed past Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, the only thing that stands in the way of the New York Jets and a Super Bowl game is Ben Roethlisberger and his Steelers. The two will face off in the Conference Championship this Sunday at Heinz Field for what is sure to be an exhilarating game. If the Jets win it, they will become the second No. 6 seed team in NFL history to make it to the Super Bowl. New York is on a good path, and has won their two playoffs games against Indianapolis and New England thus far on the road. Still, the Steelers have the endurance and experience of Roethlisberger, who has lead Pittsburgh to their fourth AFC Championship game in seven years. Turn the TV to CBS – HD National at 6:30PM ET to see if the Jets can make net their first Super Bowl berth in 42 years. Vegas odds.

After finishing first in the AFC North, the Steelers went on the beat Baltimore 31-24 on a third quarter comeback after a first round bye. That comeback was largely thanks to Big Ben, who threw two scores in the third and a 58-yard pass to seal the victory. Roethlisberger is not the only gem Pittsburgh boasts. Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders and Mike Wallace compliment the leagues second ranked defense, and really make room for Ben to make plays down the field. An advantage that sways the game in Pittsburgh’s favor is the fact that they will have Heath Miller and Troy Polamalu on hand. Both were absent in the regular-season meeting between the teams, and are sure to make a huge difference this time around. Betting lines.

Rookie QB Mark Sanchez and the Jets have lived up to coach Rex Ryan’s loud mouth, and made it far for a No. 6 seed. New York was amongst the favorites to win the AFC at the start of the season, and is now threatening to shake up a conference that has been dominated by three powerful teams for the last decade. After beating both the Colts and the Patriots, it is only fitting that the Jets would have to get past the last team of the trio to make it to the Super Bowl. However, facing Ben and the Steelers will be different. The top-ranked defense and former Steeler Santonio Holmes will have to think quick on this match-up.
