JETS’ PLAYERS WANT MANNING ON THEIR TEAM?
Tue, 17 Jan 2012 04:04 PM EST

As the New York Jets cleaned their offensive coaching team, some players are allegedly thinking about if they have the right field general in place in Mark Sanchez. NFL odds

A news media announced that it had speak to important Jets players and they secretly criticized the young quarterback’s work ethic and said the group might be in a better position with a QB like Peyton Manning, if the Colts made him obtainable.

“We have to bring in a new quarterback that will produce Sanchez work at training,” said one player. “He’s lazy and content as he knows he’s not going to be benched.”

Sanchez had a career-high twenty-six touchdown passes this season, but he also dedicated a career-high twenty-six turnovers, including 9 in the Jets ‘ season-ending three-game losing streak. He finished the season 23rd in quarterback rating and 28th in completion %. NFL spreads

According to a source, which measures the QB’s total benefaction on the field and not just passing efficiency, Sanchez went from 27th in the league in his rookie season to Eighteenth his 2nd year. But he regressed to 30th in 2011, glaringly not progressing the way in which the group had been hoping.

The Colts have the No. 1 pick in the draft and a shot at Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. The media asked Jets players and members of the organization if the staff should try and obtain Manning if Indianapolis does take Luck.

“Come on. That could be a no-brainer,” a Jets source declared. “If you’ve an opportunity to get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning and you do not do it, then you’re stupid. If I could get a good 36-year-old Peyton Manning, next, hell yes, I might trade Sanchez.”

“Plus, he’s a field general and will get everybody lined up,” the player said. “He will get his playmakers the ball. We can win a super Bowl with Peyton.”

Manning missed the entire season subsequent to neck surgery, so that the former MVP faces his very own query marks.

Nonetheless, another nameless Jets player failed to think that Sanchez, who was the QB when the Jets made 2 AFC title games, could require the team all of the way.

“How are we able to when he isn’t improving at all?” the player asserted. “He thinks he is but he is not. He has shown us what he’s able of.”

Showing just how smashed the Jets locker room could be, other Jets were incensed that unnamed colleagues were ripping the quarterback.

Center Nick Mangold contested that Sanchez is lazy.

“That’s just incorrect,” he said.” “I’ve never seen any person work as tough as Mark has. I assist him entirely and I believe the locker room does as nicely.”

Even though that means Manning is a choice?

“Mark Sanchez is my guy,” Mangold recounted. “He’s the one I want to go to fight with. I wouldn’t be too keen to see that changed.”

Mangold actually took matter with the anonymous attacks.

“If there’s actually a difficulty, if there are some things wrong, you need to man up and own up to what you’re going to say,” he revealed. “When nobody has their name adjacent to it, I suspect it’s kind of a straightforward way out to air your personal allegations that should really be kept in the locker room.”

He vowed to take care of that issue.

“I’m going to mend these facts,” Mangold announced. “It’s displeasing that there’s somebody out there, but I don’t think this should be a controversy for us, moving ahead.”

Right tackle Wayne Hunter was rather more encouraging of Sanchez.

“I back Mark all the way as I always have,” he announced. “People need to realize it’s not all Mark. The whole offense is at fault. I need to get better at my craft and I will. Players have to be held responsible. Play calling can only go so far lacking execution. For our own teammates to call out Mark in the media are self-concerned and to remain nameless is cowardly.”

Other members of the organization also did not wish to pin all the blame for a displeasing 8-8 season on Sanchez. They said that as the season slid apart, Sanchez “lost conviction” and made “one stupid throw and one dumb mistake after another.”

“So many games, he looked defeated previously he ever took the field,” a staff source said. “He did not have much confidence in what he was about to go do. You could tell across the week in training. He never felt ok with some of the things we were doing. It was a lot for him.”

Jets Coach Rex Ryan expected that his team may win a Superb Bowl this season, instead, the Jets tumbled dramatically.
