Justin Verlander often has just lofty standards and this was an OK performance from the pro player. But this was enough to boost the somewhat battered Tigers in to a winning position. Verlander managed to pitch a good seven innings yesterday in order to help the Tigers lead with a 5-2 win over the hard hitting New York Mets. Detroit has now allowed 30 runs during their first two games of the series, but it was Verlander who managed to finish up a great month of June by holding back New York to prevent a sweep.
Velander said “Each day is a new day in baseball, and that’s the beautiful thing about this. They go out and score however many runs in two days with a bunch of hits, but you turn the page,” “You’ve got to know as a starting pitcher, no matter what they’ve done before, if you make your pitches and execute, good pitching beats good hitting.” Football spreads
The Mets so far have scored a record of 52 runs in their four games. Velander managed to hold them back to just one run and only seven hits. He finished up June with a 6-0 record and a high 0.92 ERA which tied CC Sabathia for the MLB lead wins this season. Verlander has managed to win the last seven starts and also allowed an average of just 2 runs or lower in each.
Jose Reyes the Met star said “He’s awesome,” “We had him in trouble a couple times, but he always makes a pitch to get out of it. That’s why he is one of the best in the game.” NFL scores
Both Daniel Murphy as well as Carlos Beltran managed to homer for the Mets which were the only runs for them. Andy Dirks hit one solo short for the Tigers. Detroit was in need for a great start from Verlander after he lost 16-9 this previous night and 14-3 on Tuesday. Vegas odds
Verlander who was the star of the game said “I didn’t pitch well, I battled well,” “That’s something I pride myself on. I’ve been on a pretty good run here, had pretty doggone good stuff for a period of time here. You’ve got to know that that’s not going to last an entire season.”
