No matter how good you do, there is always somebody who can do better. This is probably what the superstars from New York Knicks are thinking right now. Their game against the Dallas Mavericks was extremely important. First of all because the Knicks need all the wins they can get, and second, because they really need to be sure that Stoudemire, Anthony and the rest of their stars can perform in the big games, against the strongest teams in the NBA. Basketball scores.
The first quarter started with the Mavericks showing that a blockbuster trade is not everything in this league. They didn’t care if they played against Carmelo or Stoudemire, actually they could have been playing against Magic Johnson, Moses Malone, Obama and the Queen of England, the Mavericks wouldn’t have cared. They would have just kept playing their game, a game which allowed them to take a 10 points advantage by the end of the first quarter. The score was 21-31.
“You can’t win them all so you have to come back the next day and compete, and that’s what we did today,” Dirk Nowitzki stated. “We didn’t run away with it, but at least we didn’t let them right back in it. We were still able to close it out, so it was definitely a good win.”
Amare Stoudemire managed to score 36 points and got 7 rebounds, a feat which could not be equaled by any of the Dallas players (not by a long shot), but Dallas played much better as a unit, as a team, and this is what allowed them to destroy the Knicks and score 41 points in the second quarter. However, they also conceded 30 and the overall score was 51-72. Basketball odds.
“A win is a great response, to anything,” Marion stated. “What more can you ask? No reason to dwell on it. … We all get caught up in the heat of the moment at times. That’s what he felt at the time. You’ve just got to learn from it and do it.”
But the egos of Carmelo and the rest couldn’t allow them to just sit idly by while they got pummeled, so the Knicks pushed as hard as they could in the third quarter, but they couldn’t cut their deficit by more than 7 points. The score was now 85-99. But the Mavericks wouldn’t allow the Knicks more than that, and they got more than half of the lost points back. The game ended 109-127. Basketball spreads.
