MARINERS SINK YANKEES IN 7-0 SHUTOUT
Thu, 01 Jul 2010 09:30 AM EDT

Well, the Mariners are on a roll. After some bone jarring defeats several weeks ago, it seems as if the team has found its sweet spot, and they proved that by taking out one of the toughest teams in the nation, the New York Yankees in a game that ended 7-0.

Shutting down the Yankees lineup is near impossible, but the Mariners did it. They caged the beast and played a tight game that earned them the win. In a surprisingly clean and efficient manner, Felix Hernandez did away with the Yanks. Baseball scores.

Allowing only two hits during his time at the mound, Hernandez struck out a total of 11 players.  Yankee manager Joe Girardi was in awe of Hernandez, saying that he is as good as anything they have come across this season, and that his boys were taken by surprise. Certainly the fans were as well when the Mariners gave the Yankees a clobbering.

Hernandez in a post game interview said that he was just trying to focus on throwing accurate pitches, rather than hard ones and that he was forcing himself to relax. According to him, he was just as amazed as everyone else when no one came up with a home run off one his pitches. NFL scores.

A solid batting lineup for the Mariners produced four homers, and several singles to put the final marker at 7-0. The offensive genius shown by the Mariners was something that seems to have been in hiding all year long. Perhaps it’s a case of “the harder the fight, the better we do” baseball.

Be sure and follow the Mariners as they continue to shock more fans on their way to the World Series. Don’t count the Yankees out yet, there are many more games to go, and they have one of the best lineups around.
