MARK SANCHEZ SHOWS PROFESSIONAL AND EQUANIMOUS WITH THE NEW SIGNING OF THE NY JETS, TIM TEBOW
Thu, 29 Mar 2012 01:31 PM EDT

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is happy to greet Tim Tebow to N.Y, but isn’t at all concerned about losing his spot on top of the quarterback depth chart. NFL lines.

“We’re adding extra player and weren’t replacing anybody,” Sanchez expounded on a conference roughly 5 hours after Tebow met the New York media for the 1st time. “I mean, he’s here to help us and I’m confident in my capabilities. I know the team feels the same about me. They have conviction in me…. I’m not anxious about losing my place.”

It was the 1st time the former No. 5 overall pick commented in public since the New York Jets acquired Tebow as his new backup last week.

“I just needed to let the dust sort of settle,” Sanchez said. “Let him do his press conference, welcome him to the team, and then give my allegations at the proper time. It was no slight on Tim at all.”

Sanchez failed to watch Tebow’s big intro to NY. Instead, he claimed, he was working out and throwing.

“I heard he did a rather good job,” Sanchez said. “How did he do?”

Tebow handled himself with the balance and self-confidence of a fellow acquainted with the spotlight and artfully downplayed any form of discussion.

“I feel we will have a good relationship and, hopefully, we’ll thrive together,” said Tebow, adding that Sanchez looked happy regarding the pairing when they talked last week by telephone.

Sanchez has known Tebow since he served as his recruiting host at Tebow’s campus trip to USC. The two have hung out at the Super Bowl for different sponsor events, and gotten to understand one another a bit over a period.

“He’s been great to be around,” Sanchez said. “He’s almost one of those guys who’s such a good guy, folks do not want to believe it, like there’s no such thing as that good of a fellow, but he really is. He’s a great player, great competitor and he’s going to be a good teammate.”

According to the Jets, Tebow is the No. 2 quarterback and will definitely be employed in the Wildcat formation, with Coach Rex Ryan hinting Sun. that Tebow might be on the field for as much as 20 plays per game.

Ryan advised that Tebow may be used at a placement apart from quarterback. He kept referring to Tebow as a “football player,” his ability not limited to QB.

“I don’t see Tim just holding a clipboard,” Ryan told a grouping of correspondents in Florida. “He’s going to be playing for us. There’s no doubt.”

In the past, the N.Y Jets used former receiver Brad Smith in the Wildcat role.

Rookie wideout Jeremy Kerley and second-year running back Joe McKnight filled in last season as the team scaled back its utilisation of the formation after Smith’s exit. NFL betting lines.

Sanchez has claimed he isn’t an enthusiastic fan of mixing in those plays, and was even caught on camera flinching on the line of scrimmage in the role of wideout in a game last season.

Still, Sanchez said he considers Tebow would be a tight fit in that part for the Jets’ offense under new coordinator Tony Sparano.
