MATT HASSELBECK IS NOW LEAVING THE SEAHAWKS
Thu, 28 Jul 2011 12:40 PM EDT

The Seattle Seahawks in principle have agreed to a deal with the player Tarvaris Jackson which followed the news that the quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has no intentions of returning to the Seahawks according to many sources. Hasselbeck turns 36 later in September. He last contract was signed prior to the beginning of 2005’s season and was then followed by him as he lead the Seahawks to their only appearance in the Super Bowl. Baseball betting lines

According to a number of sources Jackson’s deal should be worth over $8 million in the next few years which indicates that he was just bough in to compete for the job. His contract now matches the current contract for Charlie Whitehurst who just signed a two year deal worth $8 million contract after he was acquired in a trade prior to the last season. Jackson was Minnesota’s pick in the second round back in 2006 and appears to have an edge in competition because he has played for the Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell when they both were a part of the Vikings. In addition the Seahawks are also interested in added the great Matt Lienart in order to compete with both Whitehurst and Jackson. Baseball spreads

Leinart would be requning with the Seahawks coach Pete Carroll from his college coach at USC. Leinart’s current playing career has now hit a very low point after the Arizona Cardinals had drafted him during the second round in 2006. Later on the Cardinals had released Lineart during their preseason last August and he has spent 2010 playing as a backup for Huston Texas.

Sources have said that Leinart was also gauging other available options yesterday which also included the Redskins. The coach for the Redskins Shanahan graded the left handed player prior to the 2006 draft when Shanahan was the coach for the Broncos.

Whitehurst said “You’re more experienced; it goes for all of us. There were a bunch of new guys this past season,” “I think everybody is probably feeling pretty confident about this season.”

Instead of Whitehurst there battling for the job with Hasselbeck it will be Jackson. Later in the day reports of Hasselbeck’s departure made Whitehurst realize his chance.  He said “It’s as good an opportunity as I’m going to get and I’m looking forward to it,”
