The San Antonio Spurs look almost unstoppable this season. However, their victory against the Memphis Grizzlies was more hard-fought than some of us expected. When Tony Parker had to go out in the second quarter, it looked like the Grizzlies might have a chance. Unfortunately for them, Manu Ginobili proved to be equal to the task and his performance was enough for the Spurs to not miss Parker all that much. Ginobili managed to score 35 points and got 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Vegas odds.
“I knew it was going to be a long night,” Manu Ginobili stated. “They are tough defensively. They grab and push, and are very physical. After we couldn’t score a field goal in eight minutes,” we knew it was going to get tough. We knew we had to attack that defense to get to the line and get some of those missing points.”
In the first quarter it was business as usual for the San Antonio Spurs. They quickly suffocated the Grizzlies and went on to secure a commanding lead. Even though Memphis looked like they could put up some sort of a fight, they did a poor job of it in the first quarter. The score was 16-26 and it looked like the San Antonio Spurs were heading towards another smooth win. Betting lines.
“It’s very difficult to guard someone like him because he’s very good with his body, he’s very good with his footwork,” Conley stated. “He’s able to get his body in good positions to where he can draw fouls. You can get up on him, but you don’t really want to get up on him cause he’s going to draw the foul. You just try to contain him and get in front of him as much as you can.”
The Spurs kind of lost their momentum in the second quarter, and the Grizzlies looked their equals. However, the Spurs’ lead was pretty much in place, as the Grizzlies only managed to shave off 2 points. The overall score was 35-43.
However, the third quarter brought forth a most unexpected surprise. The Grizzlies were on top of things and they managed to outsmart their opponents. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 63-59 and the San Antonio crowd could not believe their eyes. However, Ginobili exploded in the fourth quarter and there was nothing the Grizzlies could do about it. He managed to set the final score at 88-95 and led his team to victory. Sports scores.
