Miami has gone out and declared a good number of its football players as being ineligible until they are later reinstated by the NCAA according to a source close to the information. The source had said that Miami has declared 13 of its players being under investigation by the NCAA as being ineligible to allow the NCAA running by the season opener. According to the internal investigation carried out by Miami some players which includes the quarterback Jacory Harris are now believed to have committed a number of NCAA violations by associating with the booster Nevin Shapiro and have also been declared ineligible. The person with information about this situation had spoken to the Associated Press on the condition that his name will not be revealed on Thursday. The person didn’t however tell how many players have been directly linked to Shapiro who is a convicted Ponzi schemer who is currently serving a 20 year prison sentence for pulling in $930 million from investors. The NCAA rules state that once a school finds that violations have taken place the athlete will typically be declared ineligible and the NCAA will then begin a reinstatement process. The NCAA needs to also decide if the player will miss games and also click in running.
The spokesperson for the NCAA Stacey Osborn said “The school must declare the student-athlete ineligible and then can seek reinstatement,”
Al Golden the coach for Miami said on Thursday that “We’ll make sure we practice enough guys because we really don’t know what the future brings,”. “Hopefully we’ll find out pretty quickly here in the near future if there are any penalties or suspensions, and we’ll adjust accordingly.”

He later said that “We’re going about our business,” “Obviously some of the players that are alleged to have done something are guys that have played a lot of football for us, so obviously there’s going to be some adjustments if there are suspensions.
