Michael Vick says that the Philadelphia Eagles have worked on and with him to make him a much better quarterback. He was not convinced when he first when to play for Philly and was not sure if this was the place for him to resume his football career after he spent two years in federal prison. In a recent interview the quarterback for the Eagles said that the Bengals and the Buffalo Bills had initially seemed to like a better option. Those teams who wanted him and may have made him their starting quarterback while the Eagles already had one established veteran Donovan McNabb and a starter in the waiting Kevin Kolb. This was prior to the Eagles trading McNabb and then Kolb got hurt which set the stage for Vick’s comeback. NFL lines

Vick said in an interview with a magazine that “I think I can say this now, because it’s not going to hurt anybody’s feelings, and it’s the truth … I didn’t want to come to Philadelphia,” “Being the third-team quarterback is nothing to smile about. Cincinnati and Buffalo were better options.”

But Vick said that he was convinced after he had met with the commissioner Roger Goodell as well as other officials of the NFL that the Eagles were probably his best choice. He said “And I commend and thank them, because they put me in the right situation,” Vick then issued a statement via the Eagles clarifying what GQ had said. NFL betting lines

Vick said “I did speak with many people, but the decision to sign in Philadelphia was based on my discussions with my agent, my family and with Coach [Andy] Reid,” “And after those discussions, it became clear to me that this was the place I wanted to play and resume my NFL career. The commissioner never told me to sign or not sign with particular teams.”

In Response the NFL Spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement

Aiello said “Michael Vick’s decision on where to play to put himself in the best position to succeed was entirely his own,” “Commissioner Goodell obviously met and spoke to Michael and his representatives as part of his decision on whether to reinstate Michael and on what terms.
