Florida led by Preston Tucker managed to power their way through to another appearance in the big College World series. The junior right fielder managed to hit a three run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning which gave the Gators a big 8-6 win over Mississippi state in a deciding game no. 3 of the NCAA Super Regional Sunday. The Gators will be visiting the CWS located in Omaha next for their seventh time. Tucker drove a great 3-1 pitch from Mississippi state reliever Caleb Reed to the center field in order to clean a 6-4 deficit. This was his eighth postseason homer and a Florida record which is one better than the great Mario Linares in his 1988-91 career. Scores

Tucker said in a statement “I got a change-up up I could handle and put a good swing on it,” Tucker has managed to hit two hits in the three game series being played at McKethan Stadium. He said “We had just given up three runs. We weren’t down but everyone was kind of questioning whether or not we could come back even though we’ve done it plenty of times this year.” “It completely changed the momentum and we carried it on to the next inning.”

The first two batters for Florida Nolan Fontana and Bryson Smith  drew walks from the state reliever Daryl Norris before John Cohen the coach for the Bulldogs called in Reed who had just given up for hits and one run in five plus of his innings on Saturday. Reed was probably supposed to pitch to Tucker but left a pitch at strike zone.

Cohen said “Those two walks by Norris are just a killer,” “We just let them create an inning there by walking people.”

Tucker’s home run was one in a season of five big for the Gators 50-17 hit yesterday. Daniel Pigott managed to get two homers and a two run shot during the second innings as well as a solo shot in the eighth innings with Mike Zunino as well as Vakash Ramjit hitting solo homers during the second and first innings.
