The LSU has committed a few major violations while she was recruiting for junior college football player but will not be slapped with any postseason bans or future reductions in scholarships, the NCAA has ruled this on Tuesday. The governing body has now decided to put the school on probation for just a year and cited that their former assistant coach for his unethical conduct. The investigation has discovered that the former assistant coach D.J. McCarthy had improperly arranged for the transportation of housing of their former defensive lineman Akiem Hicks back in 2009 prior trying to cover up those actions. Basketball odds

The NCAA has accepted the LSU’s self imposed reduction of their two scholarships during the 2010-11 academic year as well as the 10% reduction in their official visits and a reduction in the recruiting calls. The LSU has already started reducing official visits during the 2010-11 but has expanded the punishment to also include 2011-12. Basketball spreads

McCarthy had resigned back in December of 2009 and he never played for the Tigers prior to that. In a statement he said “I am grateful that the NCAA has concluded its investigation and welcome the opportunity to someday return to the realm of college coaching. Although I disagree with the NCAA’s findings and the manner in which I have been characterized, I will take the next few days to thoroughly review all options, including appealing their decision.”

Thomas said “The committee really felt that the LSU compliance staff and institution did an excellent job and that they assisted the (NCAA) enforcement staff in the investigation regarding these violations,”

Thomas who was also the commissioner of the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference said “That was critical,” “If that had not been done, the institution could have really been under more severe and serious penalties as well.”

Martin said that “A situation that could have been much worse was made better by the dedicated work of the LSU athletics compliance staff and I am pleased that the NCAA recognized LSU’s effort to cooperate and be proactive,” “The compliance staff … made an exemplary showing of how a university should react when mistakes are made.” This however should send the right message to others who may be thinking of doing something similar.
