NEW YORK GIVES IT ALL FOR THE WIN
Mon, 19 Jul 2010 07:14 PM EDT

Baseball players are hard to keep down, there have been legendary games where guys played with broken ribs, broken hands, arms, strained muscles, all sorts of ailments and still won the game. On Sunday, the New York Yankees won the game, but it cost them their lead starter. Andy Pettitte strained his groin; he is expected to miss at least a month. The game ended 9-5 against the Rays. Odds.

The Yankees are notorious for being extremely tough. They are one of the hardest teams to beat, and even when they are down, they still pack a powerful punch. Dismayed at the loss of their man, Derek Jeter stated that someone will have to pick up the slack, and fast.

Nothing could be more truthful, Andy has been a constant pillar of support in Yankees games all season, and has netted some extremely important victories for his team.  With him out, things are looking a little rough, but knowing this team, they will surely find a way to deal with it. Scores.

This is an extremely important part of the season, the second half of the season is well under way, and the Yankees have a strong lead over their competition, but a misfortunate event such as this could set them back. With Andy gone for a month, possibly more, they are going to have to scramble. The best possible replacement is looking like it’s going to be right-hander Sergio Mitre.

The game was fast paced, the Yankees in a fashion particularly their own, completely decimated the Rays. No matter that the Rays are almost as strong as the Yankees this year, there was no way they were going to win.  The bullpen picked it up. Chan Ho Park pitched 1 1-3 hitless innings for the win and Mariano Rivera needed one pitch to finish a game that lasted 3 hours, 47 minutes.
