The Americans were off to a slow start against Panama and that was probably their downfall. This loss has probably if anything slowed down the Americans march towards the Gold Cup quarterfinals. The Panamanians put on a spectacular show with two goals during the first half of play which allowed them to with a 2-1 victory over the U.S who was the favorite to win. Football scores

Landon Donovan the star of the US soccer team reflecting on the happenings from the game said “Sometimes you just come out flat for whatever reason. At this level, and against a good team, you can’t do that,” “Some nights you come out flat and you don’t get punished, but other nights you do. We learned a valuable lesson.” Vegas odds

Luis Tejada was probably the one that saved the day for Panama with is goal in just the 19th minute, later on Gabriel Gomez managed to convert a great penalty kick during in the first half of the game which they managed to win for the first time in the 9 times they have met with the Americans, who by the way have a history of not losing a match in any group or stage of the Gold Cup. Donovan said “First of all, give Panama a lot of credit. They started the game well. They put us on our heels at times,” “It took us a while to get into the game. Our second half was very good, but when you dig yourself a hole that huge, sometimes you can’t get out.”

However despite their loss the Americans can still get a spot in the quarterfinals which determines the winner or champs for the North and Central American and the Caribbean if they beat Guadaloupe in their final Group C state in Tuesday taking place in Kansas City.

Tejada wrapped up a sequence which started with Nelson Barahona’s free kick, they tapped into a rebound after the American goalkeeper Tim Howard jumped to reach for Armando Cooper’s header to the left. It was the foul by Tim Ream which actually resulted in a penalty kick  which lifted the Panamanians over the Americans 2-0 in the 36th minute.

Bob Bradley the U.S coach said “In the first half as the game was developing, we had the ball a lot but we weren’t able to take advantage of some situations,”
