Boston Celtics coach Doc Brooks said captain Paul Pierce won’t suit up for Tuesday’s game against the Miami Heat and will also sit out Wednesday’s trip to New Orleans Wasps with lingering discomfort from a bruised right heel. Basketball scores
“He worked out ( Monday ), did some shooting ( Tues. ) — he is feeling better, there’s no questions about that,” said Brooks. “He will not play tomorrow, either — it’s potentially fair to say that. Then we’ll wait and see, maybe the home opener ( on Friday against Detroit ) .”
Paul Pierce was on the floor Tuesday morning at the Celtics ‘ shootaround, but he’s doubtful for the game against the Heat.
Pierce suffered the bruise in the team’s first practice session of training camp and has been sidelined since. He went through an exercise session Monday and experienced less soreness than he had formerly after ramping up his activity, but he’s still not prepared to get on the floor. NFL scores
Pierce was one of the first players on the court at Celtics shootaround Tuesday morning at American Airlines Arena and hoisted shots at both ends of the court ( he even dunked a number of times ). Although it was unclear if he was at the point where he could jump back into the fray after missing almost all of training camp thanks to the injury.
Sasha Pavlovic will start again Tuesday night against the Heat.
