PEYTON MANNING SAYS “YES” TO BRONCOS
Wed, 21 Mar 2012 04:25 PM EDT

Peyton Manning will become the next quarterback of the Denver Broncos, barring a snag during intensified deal negotiations that have started under the assignment of the 4-time MVP to his agent Tom Condon, according to several sources. Baseball spreads

Manning informed Condon to negotiate the finite details of a deal that could conclude with him joining the Broncos after a frenzied but focused procedure that commenced when the Indianapolis Colts released him March 7.

Manning called Broncos VP of football operations John Elway to inform him the news. Manning also called the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans to inform them of his intention to now play for Denver. Baseball odds

An agreement existing between Manning and the Broncos is expected to be a formality. Elway and Manning 1st discussed the parameters of a 5-year, $95 million deal during their meeting in Denver, the 1st time the quarterback visited a team during his free agency.

Elway then told Manning on the trip to Durham, N.C. – where the quarterback has done the majority of his training – he wanted to finalize a deal “fair to both sides.” Neither side expects any hang-ups.

However, details such as guaranteed money, structure of the agreement and contract language designed to give protection to the Broncos in the event of Manning’s inability to perform because of his previous neck surgeries all will be addressed in the agreement, sources declared.

Yet the Broncos have few worries with Manning’s health condition. He previously passed the physical examination that a team of Broncos doctors administered during the trip to Durham, an improvement that Elway informed Manning of when he returned home to Denver.

Manning also passed physical examinations by San Francisco and Tennessee but he has told all teams that he still has gains to execute in terms of arm strength and resilience that are related to nerve regeneration due to his neck injury. However, his throwing sessions observed by all 3 groups — mixed with extensive video of previous exercise routines — were satisfactory enough for those teams to pursue the most celebrated available player since the NFL’s free agency age started in 1993.

Elway now has helped produce Denver’s biggest win since he led the Broncos to their last Super Bowl win in Jan 1999. Elway and Manning have stayed in close contact all though this procedure, strengthening a relationship that grew well past the golfing the two had played together in the past.

Manning is cozy enough with Denver that he has directed Condon not to agree terms with the 49ers and Titans to prevent any perception that he was looking for monetary leverage, resources declared.

Only an unexpected important barrier that may develop during the final stages of talks would stop Manning from signing with the Broncos, sources said.

Once the agreement is completed, Manning will travel to Denver for a news conference to formally introduce him. Immediately after that, Manning will be allowed to work with the team’s trainers, strength and medical staffs because of his previous neck surgery.

Under terms of the new collective bargaining contract, Manning isn’t permitted to engage in school room football talks with the training staff until April 16.
