The last time Paul Maholm was facing the Mets he was very angry at himself for what he believed was a screw up, this was one of the few times that the Pirates had given him some support. Maholm was mad that he allowed for the Mets to come back after a huge 7-0 deficit back on June 2nd something which he has not allowed since then. NFL betting lines

The left hander managed to pitch seven great shutout innings Brandon Wood managed to homer as the Pirates beat the New York Mets 3-2 yesterday which has split their four game series. Baseball betting lines

Maholm said “When it’s game day, it’s time to go compete and have fun,” “When I get on the mound, my focus is to get the first guy of an inning out and get groundballs. That’s how it’s been going lately, and hopefully I can continue to get in a groove and stay that way.”

Maholm has lowered his original ERA to 3.12 which allowed for only two walks and three hits. He was hampered by rather poor support on the offensive side he managed to win for the second time since back in April. He allowed just one hit in over a good six innings. Baseball odds

The Manager for the Pirates Clint Hurdle said “Sometimes, a pitcher is too worried about making a mistake if there’s no room for error or no large safety net to work with,” “In Paul’s case, he’s seen a lot, been through a lot, thrown a lot of innings. I know for a fact he’s really comfortable with the way he’s pitching now.”

Despite the fact that they were being outscored 18-7 Pittsburgh managed to split a four game series with the Mets for the second time in two weeks. The Pirates are now 3-3 in the past six games even though they only scored 10 runs. NFL spreads

Wood said “Paul’s been throwing the heck out of it,” Wood said. “Our pitching staff’s been phenomenal.” “It’s always good to get your guy a win, especially when they’re pitching their tail off and throwing like they’ve been throwing,” he then said “I’m sure that’s a little frustrating when we’re not hitting and putting runs on the board.”
