ROCKETS STOP THE JAZZ
Thu, 03 Feb 2011 09:17 AM EST

The Houston Rockets made a trip to Salt Lake City on Wednesday night to face off against the Utah Jazz. Coming into the game, the home team was looking for their third win in ten games. However, Kevin Martin and the Rockets had other ideas for this match-up. After a first quarter dominated by 61.1 percent shooting, Houston kept up the pressure for a fourth quarter comeback victory. The Jazz stole the lead a number of times throughout the game, but they simply couldn’t seal it. The win brought an end to a three-game losing streak for the Rockets, who took the game at a close 97-96 after regulation time. Scores.

Coach Rick Adelman even admitted that it wasn’t pretty. Nevertheless, it was, “ a win we really needed.” While Houston currently stands at 23-28 this season, last night’s game was no reflection of that losing record. Kevin Martin put up 3 assists and 22 points, including a vital layup and the game-winning free throw. Betting lines. Luis Scola had 14 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists, while Chuck Hayes contributed 13 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Three other Rockets were able to score in double-digits, as Kyle Lowery had 16 points, Aaron Brooks got 14 and Chase Budinger was good for 10. Houston made a point of outrebounding Utah to come up with the ball in a few critical plays, and finished with 50 percent shooting from beyond the arch. The Rockets rallied from a 15-point deficit in the fourth to take the game. Las Vegas odds.

The Jazz had the edge at the end of the second and third quarters. They played hard, but a few critical mistakes cost them the game. A perfect example of this is C.J. Miles, who went for 18 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, but missed a last second shot for the Jazz that would have won the game. In all fairness, the Jazz were without starters Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko, as well as stand-in center Mehmet Okur. In the end, Utah fell to its eighth loss in ten games.
