SOUTH CAROLINA EASILY SWEEPS THROUGH FLORIDA
Wed, 29 Jun 2011 06:13 PM EDT

South Carolina has wrapped up its first College World Series taking place at the TD Ameritrade Park in the same fashion it did with the last one which took place in Rosenblatt Stadium. This time the Gamecocks are national champions once again. Michael Roth put forth a 7 2/3 inning pitch on the first three days and put the Gamecocks in control with a 5-2 win over Florida yesterday night which has completed a two game sweep at the CWS finals. Scott Wingo the second baseman who was voted as being the best player in the CWS said “Beginning of the year I said we finished at the old one, so let’s try to open the new one up,” “Coach wasn’t sure we would get it, but I’m the type of guy who felt we were going to do it. I was thinking of the Oregon State team the whole year. I had a feeling we would get back and win this thing, and we did.”

South Carolina has become the first team to go 10-0 into an NCAA tournament and the first since back in 2007 when Oregon State was unbeaten in the CWS. The Gamecocks’ streaks are 16 NCAA tournament wins and a good 11 straight in the CWS and both are the longest time ever. They have become the sixth team in the history of the CWS to win consecutive national titles since Oregon in the 2006-07 season. Basketball betting lines

Roth said “We’re not the most talented team, and we don’t have the best players position for position,” “but we go out and stick together as a team. We battle. I can’t describe it. We’re a bunch of average Joes and love each other and come out and battle.”

The coach for Florida Kevin O’Sullivan said “They earned this one,” “They were a little bit better than us in all phases. They pitched a little bit better. They hit a little bit better. They played a little bit better defense and they earned it.”

Three of the wins for the Gamecocks this season game when they were the last to bat and also featured great pitching and excellent defensive strategies late during the innings. However there was no drama that took place on Tuesday. NFL scores
