SEATTLE STORM (7-6)
at CHICAGO SKY (7-8)
Tip-off: Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. EDT
Line: Chicago -3, Total: 142.5
Seattle could have another rough game on the road on Tuesday. They’re struggling without reigning MVP Lauren Jackson (hip), and they’re visiting a Chicago team that has been awfully tough to beat on their home floor. Basketball scores.
The Sky are going for their fourth straight home win, SU and ATS, and the FoxSheets have a three-star trend that shows they’re likely to get it against the shorthanded Storm. The pick is CHICAGO:
Play On – Home favorites (CHICAGO) – after having lost 2 of their last 3 games, with a winning percentage of between 40-49% on the season. (50-19 over the last 5 seasons, 72.5%, +29.1 units. Rating = 3*).
Seattle, the defending WNBA champions, are just 4-4 (SU and ATS) since Jackson went down with a hip injury on June 21. They’re just 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS on the road without Jackson after losing at San Antonio (where they covered the spread) and Minnesota last week. They struggled to score in those losses, failing to top 66 points in either game while shooting less than 40 percent from the field. Basketball odds.
Seattle is 2-5 (SU and ATS) away from home on the season. The Storm have also dropped three of four (SU and ATS) at Chicago over the past three seasons. Shin Cash leads the Storm with 16.4 PPG, while point guard Sue Bird has 15.5 PPG and ranks fourth in the WNBA with 5.2 assists per game.
Meanwhile, the Sky have been outstanding in Chicago. With three straight home wins, they’re now 6-2 (SU and ATS) at home this year. When the teams last met in Chicago, in May 2010 when the Storm had a healthy Jackson, the Sky led by as many as 19 in the fourth quarter in an 84-75 win. Sylvia Fowles is having a monster season with Chicago. She leads the WNBA in points (20.4 PPG) and blocks (2.6 BPG), while ranking third in rebounding at 9.9 boards per game. Basketball spreads.
