It was a great showdown between two of the strongest teams around. The Texas Rangers, playing their best season ever, faced off against the Boston Red Sox, who are still recovering from serious injuries to key players.

The Rangers took the lead and held onto it. While Boston tried to fight back, Texas proved too resolute. Great pitching and solid hitting ended the game 7-3 after nine innings. NFL scores.

The Rangers have some sharpshooters for pitchers, and one of them is C.J. Wilson. He took out some of the best hitters in the game on Sunday in a very efficient manner. He went for 7 2-3 strong innings, limiting the Red Sox to one run and four hits. Wilson really played well, and didn’t want to end his run at the mound when manager Ron Washington pulled him. They took a shutout late into the game before giving up any runs to Boston. Michael Young hit a three-run homer in the seventh that gave Texas a 5-0 lead. Boston looked good in terms of its expert pitching, but its batters were lacking. Matsuzaka struck out eight and walked two in 6 2-3 innings, losing for the first time in eight starts since June 30th. Despite the loss, Matsuzaka looked solid at the mound. He has definitely been a prime contributor to the Red Sox throughout the year.

The rest of the season looks strong for Boston, so long as they keep playing and winning. Texas has been playing better than ever, and holds a firm lead in the West. They lead the Angels by 8 ½ games, and have a promising outlook for the upcoming Division Playoffs.
