The Chicago Bulls are exploring openings to procure L. A. Lakers forward Pau Gasol before the trade cut-off point, according to resources close to the situation. Baseball spreads

The Bulls have extended hoped to wedge themselves into the trade running for Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard, but resources related that Howard’s well-chronicled shortage of interest in a trade to Chicago has pushed the Chicago Bulls to change their focus to Gasol.

Sources say the Lakers, however, have limited interest in the players Chicago could be offering, starting with Bulls forward Carlos Boozer. Baseball odds

So the Bulls might have to recruit 1 more team to the talks to have any shot at Gasol, resources claimed, with the Lakers thought to be vital on getting back 1 certifiable star if they consent to the trade the Spaniard. Sources say that the Lakers, similarly, keep on talks to other teams about Gasol in advance.

The Lakers’ longstanding choice, of course, is taking a top point guard if they consent to surrender Gasol. Los Angeles included the 7-footer in the December deal with New Orleans and Houston that would have landed Chris Paul with the Lakers, just for NBA commissioner David Stern – acting as the last decision-maker for the league-owned Hornets – to inform New Orleans’ basketball folks to cancel the deal after all 3 teams agreed to condition.

Gasol has been the subject of continual trade conjecture ever since and recently acknowledged that “there’s no guarantees” he is going to be with the Lakers outside the trading deadline notwithstanding latest guarantees from Los Angeles Lakers management that no offer was close.

The Rockets keep having interest in Gasol but have consistently declined to make point guard Kyle Lowry available in talks with the Lakers. Golden State and Minnesota are also known to have interest in trading Gasol if the Lakers prove willing.

After the Lakers’ shootaround in Memphis, Gasol told reporters: “This year’s been pretty intense so far as the uncertainty of my present position. How it will finish up and play out, I really don’t know. However I continue to come in and love what I do. I adore being here and I’ll continue to do that for as long as I can.”

If Los Angeles Lakers conclude not to trade Gasol before the deadline and give the core  of their present line-up another shot at making a championship run before chasing major moves in the offseason, they still have an $8.9 million trade exception to use that was formed in the December cope with Dallas that sent Lamar Odom to the Mavericks. The Lakers also possess two 2012 1st-round picks that could be used as trade credits.

One league source asserted the L.A. Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers lately tried to resuscitate a contract that would have sent point guard Ramon Sessions to L.A by bringing the Rockets into the mix as a 3rd-team facilitator. The source said that the Lakers, in that proposal, would have received Sessions from Cleveland and future considerations from Houston, with the Rockets receiving one of the Lakers’ 2 2012 1st-rounders and the Cavaliers landing Houston guard Jonny Flynn to back up Kyrie Irving at the point.
