THE HEAT BLOWOUT THE NETS AND CLINCH THE SOUTHEAST DIVISION TITLE
Mon, 04 Apr 2011 05:55 PM EDT

The Miami Heat took a breath after defeating the New Jersey Nets to clinch the Southeast Division title. It had nothing to do with the victory or the title. The relief was because All-Star guard Dwyane Wade wasn’t seriously injured.

Wade bruised his right thigh during the first quarter of the Heat’s 108-94 win but made a comeback for the second half, finishing with 18 points on a night Miami displayed a 31-point, 11-rebound massive sweat by ‘King’ James himself. Basketball scores.

In the second quarter Wade went to the locker room expecting some healing to happen, however he managed to come back to the court after the interval, although he was still hurting. He started the second half and played 20 minutes. ‘The Flash’ will have two full days to rest with Miami’s next game against Milwaukee on Wednesday. The win pulled Miami within 2½ games of the top seeded Chicago Bulls in the race for the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference. The Heat have five games left, one less than the Bulls.

The Heat, who also got 16 points from Chris Bosh, seem to be hitting the highest point with eight wins in nine games.

On the other hand, the Nets are bearing the other way in the concluding weeks of the season. They have lost six straight and 10 of 11. In this one, they fell behind by 16 points in the first quarter and never recovered in losing to Miami for the third time this year and seventh in a row overall. Basketball odds.

Outlaw added 17 points and nine rebounds for New Jersey, while Brook Lopez had 16 points. New Jersey played without leading rebounder Kris Humphries who was absent due to an ankle-heel injury for the second straight game and it was evident as the Nets had no presence in the glass.

Miami enjoyed a 50-30 advantage with a miraculous performance by the inconsistent Erick Dampier who grabbed a game-high 14 boards. LBJ scored 15 points in the first quarter, including nine consecutive that helped the Heat cruise by to a 17-4 lead.

This easy game served the Heat to shorten the distances between them and the Chicago Bulls as they maintain a hectic race towards the East’s top seed along with the veteran-loaded Boston Celtics. The Nets expect a high lottery pick since they have done terribly throughout the entire season. Deron Williams is their only hope for next year. Basketball spreads.
