The Tennessee Titans have finally gotten down to releasing Vince Young as they cut ties with the quarterback which they chose as their no. 3 pick overall in the 2006 draft. The team has announced this move officially on Thursday exactly eight months after the owner Bud Adams had said that the team would trade or probably release Young. Young is currently 30-18 in the five seasons he has played which includes the playoff loss. He has also been battling questions regarding his ethic, injuries and leadership abilities. With this new labor deal the Titans moved quite quickly to having to avoid pay Young an additional $4.25 million in the way of roster bonus which had previously been due on the 10th day of the new league year. He was also scheduled to get $8.5 million in salary for this season which makes him very pricey to trade with another team. NFL lines

The Titans had announced in January that they would either release the now 28 year old player or they would trade him because he’s no way in their plans for 2011’s season. The team had selected the quarterback Jake Locker with the eighth overall pick back in April’s draft and had reached an agreement with the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks Hasselbeck on Wednesday accoriding to a source at the league. Young has been eyeing the Philadelphia Eagles as a team to play for according to an insider. Some within the leage think that the Eagles are seriously considering to land Young who would in principle back up Michael Vick. But he will need to appear on the waiver wire on Friday afternoon prior to the Eagles being able to contract him. He could be flying over to Philadelphia on Friday night to be with the Eagles. A person close to Young said that he was intrigued about the idea and learning the ropes from Vick as well as Andy Reid the coach and their offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg who has done a great job training quarterbacks. Back in Tennessee Young had cursed Jeff Fisher his former coach and also blew out of the lock room last season. He was then placed on the inured reserve list for two days and he had surgery on a torn tendon in his right thumb.
