TIGER WOODS’ LONG ROAD BACK
Thu, 03 Nov 2011 01:11 PM EDT

Tiger Woods will begin his long journey back to redemption when he swings by San Martin, California, to take part in the PGA Tour’s second tier Fall. Odds

Tiger’s roar has been silenced for 2 years. That was last time that he won a PGA tour event. He also has slipped to 51st in the world rankings. Recently selected to the Presidents Cup Team amid rumblings from European players and retired great Greg Norman.

Tiger has been declared and he has yet to find his way back into the jungle where he once intimidated his opponents before they even made i to the golf course. Tiger possessed at one time the Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali type of persona that had his completion shaking in their golf shoes before adn during a tournament. When Tiger took a lead going into the third round it was game over for his opponents. When Woods was lurking from behind by 3 strokes or less going into the final 9 holes you felt like prey waiting to be deveoured by the Tiger. Now Tiger has chosed to participate in this tournament in the backyard of his alma mater in an attempt to find his game and regain his roar.

Now usually he would not come to a tournament until the day before the opening round. Part of his mental preparation and intimidation strategy was to be mysteriously absent from the tournament preparations and his competitors. The Frys.com Open is part of the ‘Fall Series’ not considered a premier tournament and some observers were surprised to see Woods in the field. However when you are playing as badly as Tiger you need a lower grade tournament to find your rhythm. Scores

Tiger of the old would control and limit his tour schedule in such a way to prepare him for the major golf tournaments. His strategy no longer is workable based upon his performance in major tournaments like the PGA Championship where he missed the cut. As a result he will miss his share of the Fed-EX Cup playoffs money and wont qualify for the HSBC Champions field in Shanghai
