The silly-season event, with only 18 players in the field, commenced awarding world ranking points in 2009.
Woods dropped as low as 58th on Nov. Six, 2011 and has not been within the top Twenty since mid-July. He’s expected to continue to climb in 2012 since the 2 year rolling scale utilized by the rankings will be taking off his 2010 performances now, instead of victories earned earlier in 2009.
At 1 time during his drop early on in the year, Woods went down in the world rankings for 15 consecutive weeks.
Woods has not been No. 1 in the world since Lee Westwood took control of the spot on Halloween in 2010.
