| Rodgers caps solid preseason as Packers fall to Titans TENNESSEE 23, GREEN BAY 21 |

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Aaron Rodgers doesn't figure to make the Green Bay Packers forget Brett Favre any time soon, but he has certainly done everything in his power to ease their concerns under center. Rodgers fired a touchdown pass in his first and only snap of the game, but the Tennessee Titans rallied to defeat the Packers, 23-21, in preseason action Thursday. After spending most of the summer fielding questions about the possibility of a return by Favre to the Packers, Rodgers has spent most of August quieting his critics after the three-time league MVP was traded to the New York Jets earlier this month. From the Packers 32, Rodgers capped off his solid preseason on the first play of the game when he hit Greg Jennings on a 68-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown. The fourth-year quarterback, who yielded to rookie Brian Brohm on Green Bay's next series, finished exhibition play a combined 37-of-54 for 436 yards with three TDs and one interception. While Rodgers left after just one play, Tennessee quarterback Vince Young remained in the game until halftime as the Titans continued to correct a passing game that was among the league's worst last season. Young went 13-of-27 for 134 yards for the Titans, who called nine straight passing plays near the end of the first half. Tennessee, which rushed for 340 yards in its preseason-opening 34-13 win over the St. Louis Rams, went over the 200-yard rushing mark for the second time in the exhibition season with 206 yards, led by Young's 57 yards. |
