NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Ronnie Brown scored from one yard out in the second quarter as the Miami Dolphins rallied from a 10-point deficit to record a 14-10 triumph over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday in the preseason finale for both teams. Playing with a persistent thumb injury while attempting to completely rebound from ACL surgery, Brown rushed 12 times for 47 yards and a score for Miami (3-1), which opens its regular season by hosting Brett Favre and the New York Jets on September 7. Brown's backfield mate, Ricky Williams, saw limited action in his return to the Louisiana Superdome. The fifth overall selection by the Saints in the 1999 draft and former Heisman Trophy winner finished with two yards on two carries. Mark Brunell tossed a two-yard touchdown pass to Lance Moore in the second quarter for New Orleans (2-2), which opens its season against NFC South foe Tampa Bay on September 7. Tight end Jeremy Shockey, who was expected to make his debut for the Saints after being acquired from the New York Giants, did not play. Joining Shockey on the sideline were quarterback Drew Brees, running back Reggie Bush and wide receiver Marques Colston. |
