By Vince DiGregorio PA SportsTicker Contributing Writer PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Jesse Chatman's two-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter gave the New York Jets a 27-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday in the final preseason game for both teams. With the game tied at 20-20, New York (3-1) took possession at the Philadelphia 17-yard line after Quintin Demps muffed a punt by Ben Graham that traveled 60 yards. Two plays later, Chatman ran up the middle for the score. Chatman produced most of the offense for the Jets, rushing for 93 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries. He also had six receptions for 87 yards. With Brett Favre in full uniform but on the sideline for the duration of the game, snaps at quarterback were split between Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge. With Clemens' role on the roster all but cemented, Ratliff and Ainge are battling for the third-string job. Ratliff played two series in the first half and completed 3-of-4 passes for 48 yards and one touchdown - an 11-yard pass to Paul Raymond late in the second quarter that pulled New York within 13-10 at halftime. Clemens played sparingly and finished 3-of-8 for 18 yards, while Ainge got the most playing time. The rookie out of Tennessee completed 10-of-16 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown. With Donovan McNabb also in pads but on the sideline, Kevin Kolb started for Philadelphia (2-2) and had an impressive showing, going 13-of-21 for 138 yards. A.J. Feeley came on in relief and was intercepted twice. Running back Brian Westbrook also did not play for the Eagles. Lorenzo Booker ran for 36 yards on 11 carries and caught five passes for 57 yards. |
