Goldstein hits 3s, South Alabama beats Troy 75-60
SOUTH ALABAMA 75, TROY 60
TROY, Ala. (AP) -- Freddie Goldstein scored a career-high 30
points, hitting a school-record nine 3-pointers, as South
Alabama defeated Troy 75-60 on Saturday night.
With the Jaguars (10-6, 2-3 Sun Belt Conference) up by five with
10:20 remaining, Goldstein scored 16 of the next 17 South
Alabama points - including 13 in a row - to push the lead to
65-54 with 4:50 to go.
Goldstein made 3 of 6 3-pointers in the first half and finished
with 16 attempts from long range. He made 10 of 19 field goals.
The Jaguars, who came in ranked No. 10 nationally in rebounds
per game (40.5), had a 54-38 advantage on the boards, with
Mychal Ammons grabbing 12.
Augustine Rubit added 17 points for South Alabama, which has won
two in a row after a three-game skid.
R.J. Scott scored 10 to lead the Trojans (6-10, 1-4), who have
lost five of their last six.
