Myles scores 23 as Rider beats Niagara 72-69
RIDER 72, NIAGARA 69 LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) -- Anthony Myles scored 23 points and Jonathon Thompson added 18 as Rider defeated Niagara 72-69 Thursday night, handing the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference leader its second straight loss. Daniel Stewart added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Broncs (13-12, 8-5), who trailed 30-26 at halftime but took a 33-32 lead on Nurideen Lindsey's layup with 16:49 remaining. Rider led the rest of the way, though never by more than 10 points. Thompson made 4 of 6 free throws in the final 24 seconds. Myles, who tied his career scoring high, also grabbed seven rebounds for Rider. Ameen Tanksley scored a career-high 29 points for the Purple Eagles (14-10, 10-3) and had 11 of their first 25 points. Niagara was without its top scorer, Antoine Mason, who rested a lower leg injury, while its No. 2 scorer, Juan'ya Green, made just 1 of 16 shots and finished with seven points. |
