HAWAII 49, ARMY 42

HONOLULU (AP) -- Sean Schroeder threw three touchdown passes and
rushed for another score to lead Hawaii to a 49-42 win over Army
Saturday.

The Rainbow Warriors (1-11) amassed 608 yards of total offense,
including 322 passing by Schroeder, who completed 23 of 33
passes. Joey Iosefa and Steven Lakalaka combined for 258 rushing
yards and two touchdowns as Hawaii rushed for 285 yards.

Schroeder threw first-half touchdown passes of 26 yards to Scott
Harding, 1 yard to Marcus Langkilde and 10 yards to Vasquez
Haynes.

Chris Gant led all receivers with eight receptions for 116
yards.

Iosefa carried 28 times for 154 yards and scored on an 8-yard
run in the third quarter. He also threw a 1-yard touchdown pass
to Harold Moleni in the second quarter. Lakalaka had 104 rushing
yards on 19 carries and punched in a 1-yard score late in the
third quarter. It was the first time that Hawaii had two rushers
go over 100 yards in the same game since 2009.

A.J. Schurr rushed for four second-half touchdowns to lead the
Black Knights (3-8), who also got a rushing score from Matt
Giachinta. Army rushed for 254 yards, nearly 80 yards less than
their average of 333.1, which led the FBS entering the game.
Schurr replaced starting quarterback Angel Santiago, who scored
Army's first touchdown on a 6-yard run early in the second
quarter.

Hawaii led 28-7 at halftime before three touchdown runs by
Schurr tied it at 28 at the 6:17 mark in the third.

The Rainbow Warriors scored on their next two drives, but Army
cut it to a one-score game twice in the final 15 minutes.

Giachinta's 1-yard touchdown run two plays into the fourth
quarter cut the Hawaii lead to 42-35, but Schroder made it 49-35
with his 6-yard scamper into the end zone with 9:50 to play.
Schurr pulled the Black Knights within 49-42 with a 2-yard
touchdown run with 2:30 remaining.

Army got the ball back with 13 seconds to play, but was unable
to drive past its own 18-yard line.

Chris Carnegie and Colby Miller led the Black Knights on defense
with 13 tackles apiece. John Hardy-Tuliau had a team-high nine
tackles for Hawaii.

Army will conclude the season against rival Navy on Dec. 14 at
Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Hawaii leads the all-times series against Army 3-0.

With the win, the Rainbow Warriors avoided their second winless
season in school history. They were playing with heavy hearts as
early Saturday morning, reserve running back Willis Wilson
drowned at an Oahu beach. Wilson, a transfer from Washington,
did not appear in any games this season.
