Fans the world over have been familiar with theScore and its growing influence within sports circles for years. The company’s successful media, stats, and content app first hit the market back in 2007 and now has the ability to reach millions of people on a daily basis. With its niche secure, the logical question was: What’s next? Well, now we know.

theScore Bet, the brand’s state of the art online sports betting app, went live in September 2019 and has begun its expansion throughout the regulated U.S. market. As theScore Bet’s list of available state’s continues to climb, so does the mobile app’s catalog of features and promotional offers. Below we’ll cover the app from top to bottom, and highlight the best features of theScore Bet’s appealing platform.

States With Access to theScore Bet

Not every state has legalized sports betting. Furthermore, theScore Bet has not attained a license in every state that has. theScore Bet is licensed and accepting legal wagers in a handful of states with more on the way. You must be physically located inside of one of the following states to bet:

Key Differences by State

Since U.S. online sports betting isn’t controlled at the federal level, each state will be different. Different rules, different betting options, different cashiers, different sign-up processes, etc. While theScore Bet has created a pretty steady product throughout all of its available markets, there are a few things to note in each area:

New Jersey

theScore Bet’s first state, a licensing partnership agreement with Monmouth Park came to fruition in September 2019.

New Jersey has a few notable rules exceptions that bettors need to keep in mind. First and foremost, you can’t bet on in-state college teams. If the college is located in New Jersey, you won’t find it anywhere on NJ online sportsbooks – period. Even if Rutgers is making a Final Four run, you’re out of luck.

Another Garden State exception, college sports played in-state are also off limits. This includes any post-season competitions like NCAA tourney action or Bowl games.

The Gilpin Casino in Black Hawk, through Jacobs Entertainment, has provided access for theScore Bet to enter the Colorado sports betting scene. CO state law does not permit prop bets on college sports, but beyond that it’s pretty much free and clear. In fact, Colorado has very lenient betting laws when it comes to available markets and bet types.

theScore Bet Indiana was made possible through a partnership between the company and the Ameristar Casino in East Chicago. No such college (or other) restrictions exist in the state. Indiana was theScore Bet’s third state, launching in September 2020.

Ameristar Casino Council Bluffs is theScore Bet’s partner for the Hawkeye state. Iowa sports betting supports all major markets and bet types, leaving out only in-game props for college games. Iowa joined the roster as theScore Bet state #4 in February 2021.

theScore Bet in Canada

As a Canadian company, it only makes sense that theScore Bet would be available in Canada. That ambition became a reality on April 4, 2022 when theScore Bet went live in its home province of Ontario. Naturally, with theScore’s almost ubiquitous familiarity in Ontario, the sportsbook has had tremendous success thus far, rocketing to the top of the revenue charts in the first few weeks after its debut. We expect theScore Bet to be a very popular sportsbook in Canada for many years to come.

How to Sign Up: Download theScore Bet

theScore Bet is a sports betting app, not a website. While most online bookmakers are multi-purpose, theScore Bet is only available on mobile devices. You’ll need a phone or tablet in order to ante up. Because it exists in a mobile-only format, registration is somewhat atypical, but not challenging. Follow along and you’ll be placing bets in short order. You must be at least 21 years old to create an account.

theScore Bet will request access to your phone or tablet’s location services. Before you can place real money wagers with theScore Bet you must be located inside of a state with legal betting. Therefore, access to your device’s GPS service is required.

theScore Bet Deposits and Withdrawals

It’s not the largest cashier, but it gets the job done. theScore Bet allows users to deposit money to the app and subsequently withdraw with a few common, easy-to-use methods. These include:

theScore Bet Prepaid Play+ Card

Play+ comes with an actual, physical card that can be used in-person. Adding cash to it is a snap, and it offers a level of convenience for deposits and withdrawals to the platform.

Online Banking Transfer / eCheck

Chances are, if your bank offers an “online bill pay” feature, you can attach the account to your theScore Bet account. Shift funds back and forth between the two with ease. theScore Bet uses ‘eCheck Select’.

Credit + Debit Cards

While most online sportsbooks work with just Visa and Mastercard, theScore Bet has done well to expand its cashier to include Discover. Deposits are exceedingly simple when using a card, but unfortunately you can’t withdraw to one.

Keep in mind that banking options are likely to look different based on the state that you are betting in. Expect new methods to hit the app, too. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for PayPal support, or an in-person option like PayNearMe.

theScore Bet App Review

Without a web-browser based sportsbook, theScore Bet needed to really bring it on the mobile front… and bring it they did. theScore Bet’s mobile app runs clean, is easy to use, and allows for a pretty effortless betting process. They didn’t rev-invent the wheel when it comes to the overall format, but it works.

Your initials will be displayed in the top right corner of the app along with your balance. Touch them to view your account and other menu options. Progressing down the page there’s a list of current sports, followed by a few upcoming games that are seeing a lot of interest. There is a banner of promotions – keep an eye on these, there’s value abound – followed by more popular games.

Along the bottom of the app there’s another menu bar with options to return to the homepage, a link to your bet slip (labeled My bets), a list of current “Live” games, and an A-Z sports list.

Appearance-wise, it’s a win. The black/gray color scheme is easy to look at with pleasant color accents in bright blues and yellows.

Submitting a Wager With theScore Bet

As mentioned above there’s a few ways to navigate to the game you want. There’s a list of sports at the top of the app, but you can also click the ‘Sports’ button in the bottom right for a complete A-Z list of available betting markets. If you’re logging-in to bet on a major contest like the NFL playoffs, NCAA tournament, a prominent Bowl, etc., chances are you’ll find it listed front and center on the homepage.

Putting a bet down doesn’t take much effort. Once you’ve identified your winners, just touch them. This will automatically add them to your betslip. They’ll start out as straight bets, but it’s really easy to combine them together. Select the parlay tab to join them together, or you can also make them a teaser. After adding the size of your bet, it will give you the expected payout and give you a nice big, blue button to press to place the bet.

theScore Bet Promotions

theScore Bet also advertises a VIP program that’s shrouded in mystery. It’s invite only, but offers exclusive deals catered to the brand’s most valuable clientele. What’s more, if you’re already a VIP-caliber sports bettor on a different service you can email and inquire. If you’re willing to make the switch, they may be willing to upgrade your status right away.
