Welcome back to the weekly golf betting roundup article!

Well, we nearly hit the outright win with Rory McIlroy in this space last week, but he could not overcome what became the Cameron Smith runaway train in the final round. We did hit the Fleetwood Top 10 bet at +300 and the Smith H2H win, though, so it was a solid week!

We transition back to U.S. soil for the 3M Open in Minnesota this week. TPC Twin Cities will be your host venue. As for the course, it sets up as a moderate length par 71 with three par fives in play. There is water in play on 15 holes around the property, but there is room for the professionals to miss off the tee.

The water is really the only hazard that the course offers. As usual, ball striking and approach play will be the name of the game, and whoever can grab a hot putter will rise to the top of the leaderboard. I will target golfers with strong birdie or better percentages, as well.

Let’s try to find some winning bets!

3M Open Outright Betting Picks

Davis Riley

There is no doubt that Riley is in the midst of a breakout season on the PGA Tour. Over the last three months, his results in stroke play events are as follows: 5, T9, T13 (major), T4, T13, T31 (major), and T64. That’s a stretch of seven straight made cuts with five top 15 finishes. He also played in six consecutive weeks, which may have contributed to some fatigue at the back end of that stretch. Now that he has had two weeks off, he should be rested and ready to go this week. He ranks 3rd in this field in total strokes gained and 8th in ball striking over the last 36 rounds, and we know he can make plenty of birdies when he gets it rolling. A win could follow if he makes enough putts.

Chris Gotterup

In just his fifth PGA Tour start, Gotterup found himself as the betting favorite at the Barbasol Championship a few weeks ago. He missed the cut thanks in large part to a horrible first round, though he did make a run on Friday to get close to the cut line. I’m not going to fault him for that, as seven of his previous eight rounds had been shot in the 60’s. While this field is obviously not quite as weak as the Barbasol field, it’s still an event where Gotterup could absolutely contend. We’re getting him at much better odds here this week, and I’m buying in.

3M Open Top 10 Finish Picks

Adam Svensson Top 10 Finish

I’ve targeted Svensson quite often as a bet this year, and he has shown us flashes of being a top 50 player at times. The consistency is always what has been missing. He’s starting to develop that now. Svensson has now made the cut in seven consecutive PGA Tour starts, with the last four all resulting in top 25 finishes. In his most recent start at the Barbasol Championship, he was in the mix headed into the weekend and walked away with a very strong sixth place result. He quietly ranks 7th in this field in approach play and 13th in ball striking over the past 36 rounds, and he finished 15th in his only previous trip to this event. I am very happy to bet him at these solid odds.

Brendan Steele Top 10 Finish

Steele has been one of the best ball strikers in this field over the past few months, and his game looks as polished as it has in quite some time. With seven consecutive made cuts in stroke play events on his ledger and three straight top 25 finishes at the moment, these are solid odds in a weak field. I’ll happily play him for a top 10 / top 20 this week as well.

Long Shots and Other Bets

Long Shots – We could very easily see a long shot winner at this tournament. The field is weak, and it often turns into a competition to see who can make the most putts. Patton Kizzire is by far my favorite long shot in the 100-to-1 range, while the likes of Matthew NeSmith and Wyndham Clark are also interesting options in that area.

Cameron Davis over JT Poston H2H

I believe that Poston is getting just a little too much respect here for his win at the John Deere Classic a few weeks ago. Davis is a strong upside player in his own right, and he can roll in the birdies in bunches in events like this. Over the last 36 rounds, he ranks inside the top 20 in this field in total strokes gained, approach play, and ball striking. He has also finished 12th and 28th in the last two editions of this event, and I like him to out-duel Poston this week.

Good luck this week everyone! Let’s win some money!
