Free MLB Player Props Picks For Wednesday

Justin Verlander over 6.5 Strikeouts

Verlander is actually a large reverse-splits pitcher and is projected to face six left-handed hitters today. One of the right-handed hitters he gets to face, Adolis Garcia, strikes out 27% of the time against RHP.  Verlander hasn’t been the same, truly dominant pitcher that he has been in the past, but he still has a 25% K rate and a very low walk rate, which allows him to stay efficient with his pitch count.

This Rangers team is very watered down and doesn’t have the talent to knock Verlander out of this game early. I do have some reservations about Semien and Seager – both of whom are well above average, low strikeout hitters at the top of the lineup, but after those two, I expect smooth sailing and for Verlander to go over this total with room to spare.

Nick Pivetta Under 17.5 Total Outs

Nick Pivetta has not gone over this total since late June. He has had six-straight starts where he has given up at least seven hits total and he is just not missing bats right now.

There are strikeouts in this Braves lineup, but there are also quality hitters with big-time power. I don’t anticipate Pivetta to be able to reach six full innings in this game. The Red Sox pitching from top to bottom is abysmal right now and Pivetta has long struggled with reverse-split power. Acuna, Riley, Swanson, and maybe even Ozuna could give him a lot of trouble in this game.

Ronald Acuna & Austin Riley Over 1.5 Total Bases

As you read above, I am very bullish on the Braves beating up on Pivetta and this Red Sox bullpen. I don’t think the home-run lines have enough value to bet on and Acuna hasn’t been much of a home-run hitter this year. I do like where he is at with hard contact and his overall skillset. This is the perfect matchup for Acuna and he will get plenty of opportunities to get hits in this game.

Austin Riley just got paid and he is showing Atlanta fans and the rest of baseball how he got that massive contract.  He is on fire right now and is putting up massive offensive numbers.  I might take a little off of my total bases bet and put a little on the home run prop at +280 on FanDuel, but I prefer the safety of the total-base prop more.
