Greetings, ScoresAndOdds readers! Each Thursday, I am going to bring you three of my favorite bets for the day in a quick, easy to read article that we’ll call “Three For Thursday.”

We have a fun day of MLB games on tap, so let’s see what we can try to make some money with today!

Martin Perez has been fantastic for the Rangers this year, but I am just waiting for that regression to kick in. His 20% strikeout rate is still well below league average. His command hasn’t really improved that much. He is generating more ground balls and soft contact this year, but he is not suddenly a 2.18 ERA pitcher given his career 4.55 ERA and 4.51 xFIP. Eventually, his lucky shamrock that is a 3% HR/FB rate will run out.

Granted, the Tigers aren’t necessarily the offense that is guaranteed to take advantage of that, but I’ll take them as a fairly significant home underdog in this one. I also like the OVER in this game with inconsistent rookie Beau Brieske pitching for the home standing Tigers. Just one win out of these two picks guarantees us a profit if you bet it right, and I feel pretty good that we might be able to grab both.

This feels like a sucker bet, but consider me sucked in. The Phillies are the hottest team on the planet not named the Atlanta Braves right now. Ace Zack Wheeler is pitching tonight. The Nationals have one of the worst offenses in baseball. They also have Patrick Corbin on the mound, and he’s one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball. So, we have a hot team + ace pitcher facing off against a bad team + horrible pitcher. Give me the Phillies to keep it rolling tonight.
