ScoresAndOdds analyst Timothy Buell gives free expert advice and betting picks for Monday’s MLB and NBA slates.

Happy Monday everyone! Welcome to this new article for ScoresAndOdds, where we will offer betting picks and advice for multiple sports that are happening on a given day.

The MLB season is here! We’ll focus on MLB odds and props, while continuing to analyze NHL odds and NBA odds and props. We will also be throwing in some traditional parlays and some same game parlays as we see fit.

We have three NBA games and seven MLB games to choose from this evening. I am going to pass on the lone NHL game of the day. Let’s get started with the betting picks!  

Free NBA Betting Picks For Monday

NBA Player Prop – Bruce Brown

The Celtics seem content to let Bruce Brown try to beat them while containing their superstar duo of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. I don’t know if the Celtics will sweep the Nets tonight or not but if the Celtics continue with this strategy then I think Bruce Brown is a really good play on his over points prop. Brown has really stepped up all season long despite not being a prolific scorer.  

Brown is from Massachusetts and started off this series with some trash talk of the Celtics interior defense without Robert Williams. Despite his poor performance in Game 1 he has crushed this over in his last two games, combining for 31 field goal attempts and 10 free throw attempts. This game currently has a 1 point spread so I am projecting for Brown to get right around 40 minutes so he should have plenty of volume to hit this over.    

Utah Jazz @ Dallas Mavericks

I am predicting that this series goes to seven games, with each home team winning the next two games. The Mavericks took a brutal beat in Game 4 but should come back highly motivated to win tonight in front of their home crowd. Look for the Mavs to play a lot of pick-and -roll offense to get Gobert out on to the perimeter to guard Luka and hopefully can get him into early foul trouble. 

Donovan Mitchell has been extremely inefficient despite putting up big scoring lines.  His shooting has not been great at all and simply makes up for it with volume.  I don’t think he will get away with that tonight and I think the Mavs cover this 3 point spread with room to spare. 

Free MLB Betting Picks For Today

San Francisco Giants @ Milwaukee Brewers

This certainly wasn’t the first baseball bet I thought I’d be making today but I think there is value in taking the Giants today.  Obviously Corbin Burnes is one of the best pitchers in baseball and could completely shut out this Giants team. This wager is more of an indictment of the Brewers offense. They are a team that is vastly overrated when it comes to their bats and if the Giants can get to Burnes just a little bit then I think the Giants are the favorite to win this game.

The Giants are one of the most well rounded teams in baseball and they do everything really well and are not afraid to pinch hit for guys early in the game to get the best possible matchup. Sam Long will be the long opener and should pitch right around 2 innings before turning it over to the bullpen.  Yes this wager will probably lose more than it wins if you are looking at just wins and losses but in the long run I think this wager beats the juice.  If you are uncomfortable with it, take a pass or just put half a unit on it, but this will be a full unit play for me. 

MLB Player Prop – Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Vlad has gone over this prop in four straight games and has only one extra base hit in those four games. Nathan Eovaldi has been a respectable starter for the Red Sox but nobody can really contain Vlad. He is a top-5 hitter in all of baseball and I think the juice is a little too low. If you want to gamble I also like his to hit a homer prop at +310 but I can’t make that my official play. 

Vlad should always be considered a plus EV bet at close to even money unless he is facing a truly elite pitcher.  Even at home where he may lose the additional at bat doesn’t keep me from this bet, the Blue Jays are a good enough offense where Vlad should still get his four or five AB’s.
