We continue with our preseason NFL betting coverage by switching to the ever-growing in popularity player props market. We will be giving you guys a few of our favorite season-long player prop picks, broken down by offensive position. Today we’ll dive into running backs.

2022 NFL Futures Player Props Picks

AJ Dillon over 5.5 rushing touchdowns

We expect AJ Dillon to have much closer to a 50/50 role in the running game this year, especially if the Packers are planning to use Aaron Jones at wide receiver like they did last year, when the WR core was depleted with injuries.

Given that Dillon scored five times last year, in a much smaller role, we expect him to easily cover this 5.5 number this season. He should see plenty of opportunities in the red zone, given that Aaron Rodgers is still at the helm. This is one of our favorite bets going into this preseason, so we are going to pound it with extra units.

Miles Sanders under 900.5 rush yards

It’s been going on four years now, and for some reason, the Eagles simply refuse to commit to Miles Sanders as their workhorse back. He has gone under this number in all three of his NFL seasons, despite the fact that he’s never had a legitimate threat in the backfield to take his carries away.

Instead, the Eagles have simply chosen to operate a multiple-back system, despite Sanders clearly being the best option, so we expect another similar season of 700-800 yards that should hit this under fairly easily.

Travis Etienne under 705.5 yards

It’s a bit difficult to have a strong lean one way or the other on a guy who has yet to step foot onto an NFL field, but we expect the Jaguars to ease Travis Etienne into the offseason after his rookie season was lost to a preseason foot injury that cost him his season. And even when he is on the field, Etienne figures to be more of the passing-down back, with James Robinson taking a bulk of the carries.

While we certainly expect Etienne to take on a larger role in the offense, as the season moves on, we still expect him to go under on this rushing total, especially since he should be more of the passing-down back, rather than the in-between the trenches guy.

Tony Pollard over 3.5 rushing touchdowns

Much like AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones in Green Bay, we expect Zeke Elliot and Tony Pollard to be much more of a 50/50 split in the backfield this year, as the NFL continues to move away from the trend of a singular work-horse running back, and more to a stable of rotating bodies.

Additionally, the Cowboys could be looking to cut ties with the expensive Elliot in the offseason, so this could turn into an audition of sorts for Pollard as the lead tailback. If that is the case, this line should be closer to 5.5, so we will gladly pay a bit of juice to take the over 3.5 rushing touchdowns here.
